A Little Down Time. . .

A few changes will be coming to Craven Creative Photo + Design. . .

Chief among them is a change over to a cool new proofing system (YAY!)

And, second in line is a website overhaul (WOO HOO!)

I am trying to phase out the old and ease in the new - but you know what they say about the best laid plans!  If the site experiences a few hiccups and outages in the next few days, please bear with me . . . I'll iron it all out as soon as possible and once all is said and done it will be AWESOME!!! :-)

Questions? Concerns? Frustrations? Please contact me by email.

Thanks for your patience and encouragement in this process.

I was a-Runnin' (Greensboro) . . .

This weekend I attended the Kirkwood 5k in Greensboro, NC.  The event was a benefit for Backpack Beginnings (www.backpackbeginnings.com), and was a HUGE success!  I think there were close to 400 participants, which is a remarkable turn out for a first year race.  Well done, everyone.

I will be posting a full album of photos from the race online - for purchase - with all profits from print sales going directly to Backpack Beginnings.  The album link will be emailed to all race participants, and will be online by the middle of this week.  If you were a registered runner, be sure to check your email (and your trash) for the album link.  If you have questions or you don't receive the link - you can always email me directly.

To hold you over until Wednesday - here are a few favorites from race day. . .

Busy, Busy Weekend! (Greensboro & Hillsborough)

Not only did I get to go to a very cool birthday party this weekend -- I also had 2 sessions with the most adorable kiddos.

My first stop was with AK over in Greensboro.  Our plan was to shoot at a local park, but it started drizzling, and it seemed like it was getting ready to set in - so we were forced into plan B and headed back to the house.  By the way -- it never rained! Ha ha.

AK was an absolute delight, and we had a lot of fun running around the house and yard. What a precious and photogenic little one, wouldn't you say?!

So far, this one is my favorite:
Thanks, AK for helping me start my Sunday on the right foot!

The next session was with this little man - we'll call him JN - who was also an absolute delight.  He is the most beautiful, sweet and loved child.  Just recently adopted from far, far away, this little man has surely met his fair share of new people lately - but, he was such a trooper with me today.  Welcome Home, JN!

Clearly, someone is teething! But, seriously, how adorable is he -- seriously??

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful Sunday.  What a joy.

Happy Birthday, Big Guy! (Hillsborough). . .

One of our little buddies had a birthday this weekend. . .the big '7'. . .it was a great party!  Best wishes for an awesome year, big guy!

The Birthday Boy's mom made a pretty cool cake to go along with party's fishing theme - cute, huh?
I love this series of next shots. . .(I especially love his little brother's full on belly laugh in the bottom lefthand corner. . .priceless!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

One Year Older (Charlotte). . .

This weekend I ventured over towards Charlotte to visit with a few friends and, of course, take some photos!

My first stop was in Charlotte, where I met up with little David, his parents and his Granby (I hope I spelled that right!) for our morning session.

Now, I love photographing children.  I'll take 'em on cranky, teething, drooling, whatever - but, when you walk in to someone's home for a session and your subject greets you with a smile and/or a giggle, it really makes the job so much fun!

Lil David did just that - and kept on smiling right until the very end of our time together.  What a great way to start my Saturday!  Thanks, guys - so glad we were able to make it happen.  I can't wait to share the whole album with you -- but, until then here's a sneak peek. . .

My trip west didn't end after my session with David.

I was able to spend a little time with my college suitemate, her husband and their son, Aleks, over in Concord. . .(and, btw, I'm so proud of myself for resisting he temptation to visit nearby Concord Mills).

Like David, Aleks just celebrated his first birthday! This was exciting for me, since the first time I photographed Aleks, he was only 9 days old.  It's been fun to watch him grow up in this last year and I feel very fortunate to have been able to photograph him on several different occasions now.  He is a ball of sweetness, and when he looks up at you from under those looooong eyelashes. . .he just melts your heart!

Happy Birthday, big guy! Hope to see you again soon.
